High PErformance Computing of PersonAlized CaRdio ComponenT Models
PN-II-PT-PCCA-2011-3 Joint Applied Research Projects
Contract nr. 130 / 2012
The main goal of the project is to improve the clinical management of coronary artery disease by leveraging the computational models to create patient specific therapeutic interventions.
Simulation based methods are used for intervention planning (virtual stenting, angioplasty and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)) using computational models. High Performance Computing (parallel/distributed computing) is intensively used for efficiently addressing the multi-scale complexity of the models for supporting clinical decision making in an optimized time-frame. The project aims to develop, integrate and validate patient-specific multi-scale computational models with high predictive power for coronary circulation in healthy and diseased vessels. The coronary is analyzed as a system including fluid dynamics and electrical aspects.
The project consortium is formed by Transilvania University of Brașov (coordinator), Siemens, Politehnica University of București and Emergency Hospital Floreasca Bucureşti.
HEART is funded by the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) between 2012-2015, with 2.845.000 RON as part of PNII program.
